EXPORTLAYOUT failed to generate a new drawing.

I am attempting to export to layout, when I do I get the error message " EXPORTLAYOUT failed to generate a new drawing." The new drawing it generates is a invalid drawing file. I have several viewports and have changed the exportpaper space variable to 1 to export all views. Any suggestions of what I may try?

The best way to solve this problem is to do the following:
1. Save your original drawing as another dwg. to make a copy (Just to keep your original file save).

2. In your dwg. copy use the following command: PURGE or _PURGE depending on the language you use your Autocad in. Complete the purge command by clicking on the cleaning button that will appear in the window after typing the command.

3. Start exporting your layouts using the EXPORTLAYOUT, _.EXPORTLAYOUT command.

Problem: EXPORTLAYOUT failed to generate a new drawing.

Had a similar instance, XREF surveyors drawings seemed to be the issue.

Solution: Bound Xref, purged audited and after exploding XREF is finally prints.
