Deleting old Revit layers

I have a drawing that was originally done in Revit (by another architect) that I used as a base to redraw in AutoCAD Architecture (the system I use)  I would like to clean up the layers by deleting the old Revit layers but it won't let me.  There is no x-ref.  Is there a way to delete the layers?

Can you purge those layers out? How about using layer merge and merging all the revit layers to a new layer?

Purge didn't work, but it did let me merge.  So all the old layers are merged into one single layer at the bottom of the list out of the way.

Thanks.
