Define a custom room tag?

The Help actuallly does have a section on how to create a custom tag. In the 2011 Online Help, navigate from the "landing page" to Documentation > Schedules and Display Themes > Schedule Tags > Creating a Schedule Tag. For the 2010 Help (and, likely, earlier versions: AutoCAD Architecture User's Guide > Documentation > Schedules and Display Themes > Schedule Tags > Creating a Schedule Tag. That explains how to use the Tag Wizard, which works fine if you want to create an annotative schedule tag that has a single view block. If those instructions are not enough, you may find this blog article of interest. That written for the 2006 release, when the Tag Wizard was first introduced, so if you are using 2010 or later, you will have to know that the Tag Wizard is accessed in those releases on the Annotate ribbon tab, on the Scheduling panel. You will need to click on the Scheduling Panel name to expand the panel, and then choose the Create Tag tool. Use this in lieu of the pulldown menu instruction in Step 3, and you should be good to go.
You may also want to explore the Content Browser's out-of-the-box offerings, which include the Room Tag (w/ Dimensions) tool which inserts a tag that displays the Space Style, Area and Dimensions. If those graphics are acceptable, you could modify a copy of that Schedule Tag to show the room name in lieu of the style name and delete the Length x Width display, if you do not want that. Not that there is anything wrong with creating your own from scratch - I have certainly done that often enough myself.
