Defaults in style browser

So I'm not sure what I did but I broke my 2017 ACA.  My detail components started all showing in metric. I tried repairing with no luck. It showed that imperial was loaded in the choices of what to add. I even tried unchecking imperial, repairing, and then rechecking it and repairing again. After I tried that it said I was missing the file for it. I browsed and found the file and it finished the install. That made it worse as I still had only metric and ACA kept crashing. After a while I gave up got my current settings exported and just did a full uninstall and redownloaded the installer and did a fresh install. Yes I was sure I was loading the English Imperial version too.

Now for my question. Everything is working back to normal. I'm missing 1 palette worth of tools, but that's minor. What I am missing is in the styles browser it now only shows the items that are in the drawing I have open. It used to show many default wall, window, and door styles. How do I get them back? I just had them all when I originally installed ACA so I'm not sure why this time on a fresh install I didn't get them. I tied all the drop down menus in the style browser with no change.

I'm sorry you're running into this issue. You might try the following to make sure everything is set up properly:

• Verify that the content drawings are present in the default Styles folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ACA 2017\enu\Styles\Imperial
• Make sure the Drawing Source is set to Content Library Drawings.
• From the Drawing File dropdown, pick Manage Content Library... and verify that the style drawings are all listed there.
• If they aren't, add them, and check the box for Save as Default.
• Repeat for other objects as needed.

I seem to have all the files in the programdata file you mentioned.

Drawing source is set correctly.

When I try to select manage content library the button doesn't do anything.

Hi @gotphish001,

On the OPTIONS > AEC Content tab, what is your Architecture / Documentation / Multi-Purpose Object Style Path set to? Is it a custom location?

This is okay to do, but the location may not contain the XML files that the Styles Browser requires.

It's written for AutoCAD MEP, but the Styles Browser works the same in both ACA and MEP. If this works for you, I'll update the article to reflect both programs.

Thanks that did it. That path was blank. I added in the path to the the imperial file that you mentioned in your first response and poof it's working now. Strange that was blank. I definitely haven't been in the AEC content tab of options for at least a year. Plus as I just did a clean install, and imported settings where it worked as intended, I'd think having it point to a that folder would just be default. Maybe importing my setting zip file made it blank by just some importing glitch. I know sometimes a setting seems to get lost in the import or doesn't take.

It does seem odd that the path was blank. Any chance the imported settings originated in a version of ACA prior to the addition of the Styles Browser?

The setting were from 2017 ACA also. Probably just a glitch in the import or export.

the only solution is to uninstall and install it again. the same thing and to me.
