copy & paste Xref: can I remain its layer setup (color)?

Hello,

In paper space, the title block is a Xref, and I changed certain layers' color (from 7 to 9) for specific reasons.

Now for new plans, I need the same title block, so I copied the xref to the new plan's paper space, but those layers' colors ( which i changed to 9) became to original (7).

Is there any way to remain the Xref layer color setup when copying & pasting?

Can you edit the source file for the title block and change the colors of those layers there?

Set VISRETAIN to 0 (zero)

Reload the xref 

Set VISRETAIN back to 1

That is a direct way.

The title block came from client and is shared with other disciplines; we are asked to do so and other disciplines not to; client has their own reasons; can't argue 😞

that was a direct way which I have thought about; but client has their own reasons to ask us to do so (some other disciplines dont't have to).

If change color in original Xref file itself, yes VISRETAIN would work; but we need to change the color in the file which has xref inserted.

If you cannot change the colors in the source file, then you will have to change them afterwards in each file.  You might use a Layer State, a script file or an AutoLISP routine to automate the change, if you have to do this to a lot of files.
