When I go to the drop down and then open file the "Import IFC File and Create Drawing is not even an option". Am I missing a step?
For example:
I don't think you can open an IFC file unless you have a drawing open. While inside a new blank drawing, use ifcimport.
If you love the ribbon, use the application menu while in a drawing and in the search bar, type ifc. Choose import. You must be in a drawing.
That was exactly what I needed to know. Thank you so much.
even in a open tap doesn't work in my computer. Why?
is not possible to import a .ifc drawing to autocad?
You need to download the IFC. file plug-in. https://apps.autodesk.com/RVT/en/Detail/Index?id=7265544480016320144&appLang=en&os=Win64
this option only appears if you have a drawing already open
I'm running Autocad Architecture 2024.
I have a drawing open, still I cannot see the IFC import function. Also the program doesn't recognize the ifcimport-command.
Does anyone know if there's a plugin missing or something?
@caaH5999 Which ACA2024 profile are you running there? Your RIBBON looks to be "as autocad", IFC import is not found there in any year version of ACA through 2024. you need to be running one of the ACA profiles instead
I'm a little puzzled. I've running AutoCAD 2022 standard version. In looking at the previous posts, it appears that my version can use the IFC Import Plugin (have I got that right?).
I when to options, and click on the PROFILES tab, I only had "<<Unnamed Profile>>", so I clicked "Add to List" and entered "AutoCAD".
If, while in a dwg file, I select "IMPORT" there is no IFC file type options to select.
What am I doing wrong?

No. The source of your information was inaccurate or the actual in-use software (or add-in) was missed.

Plain AutoCAD (which is not the software topic of this forum) does not have IFC import ability, never has: read all about it from Autodesk here https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Import-IFC-files-i...
I am adding this because I had trouble finding the IFC open option. I finally realized that this option is not available if I start "AutoCAD Architecture as AutoCAD" which I had done by mistake. The IFC option is not available even if I set the profile to AutoCAD Architecture. I needed to start the "AutoCAD Architecture". I believe this was hinted at but it was not clear enough for me to recognize.
I am working in autocad 2024 LT.
What are my options to import ifc in a dwg-drawing.
Or Convert ifc to dwg/dxf before importing.

No option at all in any LT versions of AutoCAD. Sorry.
You'll need to find a 3rd party program or website for the conversion if the IFC creator is not able to get you a DXF or DWG.
Thank you. That's a clear answer.
Can you advise a such a program or website. It's for occasional use only.
