Yes, round columns are possible.
You will need a Structural Member Style with a circular profile. The Structural Member Catalog will allow you to generate Structural Member Styles with a circular profile. On the Manage ribbon tab, on the Style & Display panel, select the panel title to see the rest of the tools on that panel and select Structural Member Catalog from the list. In the left side (tree view) of the catalog, expand the nodes as shown in the image below. Circular columns in both Imperial and Metric sizes can be found under Concrete > Cast-in-place > Circular Columns.
If the size you need is not there, you can use the Structural Member Style Wizard to create a circular column style. On the Manage ribbon tab, on the Style & Display panel, select the panel title to see the rest of the tools on that panel and select Structural Member Wizard from the list. On the first "page", choose the shape you want to create. Use Concrete > Circular Column for a solid column, or Steel > Circular Pipe for a steel pipe column. On the second page, you enter the desired dimension(s) and on the third page, you provide a style name.
Note that, like all AEC objects, circular columns will be shown on screen as a faceted approximation of the true curve. You can increase the number of facets by running the FACETDEV command and setting a smaller number.
