Architectural Ticks Aren't Small Enough

Hi there. I am working in a new company and am setting up my imperial dimension style (can't use previous templates because their version of AutoCAD is older than mine.) When I go into DIMSTYLE and try to change my tick size to 0'-0 5/64", it automatically changes the size to 0" and my ticks dissapear entirely. the smallest size it allows me to input is 1/4". Anything less than that and it changes to 0. The version I am using is AutoCAD 2017. Does anyone know how I can make the program unconstrain my tick size?

There is a long standing bug in AutoCAD that requires you to set your units more precisely before using smaller numbers for dimstyle command.  Set your units to 1/64 or smaller in order to be able to use DIMSTYLE to use x/64 sizes.
