I got to understand that energy simulation can be done on revit. Can this be done on AutoCAD architecture too?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting your question here in the AutoCAD Architecture community.

There's no option to perform energy analysis directly from AutoCAD Architecture. However, you might be able to use the model you've created in ACA in Revit to perform the energy analysis there.

One option is to use the workflow described in this forum thread.

@Viveka_CD: Do you have any additional details or recommendations to add, regarding energy analysis in Revit, using models created in other programs (ex. AutoCAD Architecture)?

Hi @Victoria.Studley

Revit performs whole building energy simulations for architectural models that include wall, window, floor, and roof constructions that all have unique thermal properties.

There are two ways:

1.While Linking  AutoCAD architecture models in Revit ,make sure the Room bounding building constraints for the linked models is NOT checked. This can be useful to “trace” over the 2D geometry to create an energy model architecture.

2.The Revit model can consist of conceptual masses, building elements, or both, so it is recommended that the user imports his AutoCAD model as a mass and loads that into a new project in Revit.

Below is an info-graphic which explains how whole building analysis is done in other Autodesk software.
