AutoCAD disconnecting GPU and crashing.

User has been having bluescreens with AutoCAD crashing. Windows updates are up-to-date. NVidia GeForce 1060 driver completely up to date. Tried disabling fast boot in windows 10, Turned off Hardware acceleration in AutoCAD, Reset AutoCAD settings to default, Completely reinstalled AutoCAD - Still having issues.

Swapped with a completely new Laptop - Now it's random where if he's working in a random file or opening a random file, you hear Windows "disconnect" hardware sounds (When you unplug a USB drive) - and AutoCAD crashes or freezes. I found out it was disconnecting the NVIDIA GPU. I can reboot and it comes back but will eventually do it again. Closes support appointment is next week monday so it's really hard to tell the user that he can work until Monday. I'm at a lost, this has been going on/off for the past 2-3 weeks. I've replaced almost everything (in the beginning looked to be a hardware issue) but with it still happening on a brand new laptop, this has got to be something with AutoCAD or GPU driver? I've downgraded to the previous GPU version and still happening. Anyone else running into this???

FWIW Bluescreens is a system level hardware problem: there is no driver or update to fix that, there is a hardware component that needs to be replaced.

On the new laptop, you probably have to drill down into the NVIDIA drivers to specifically assign it to AutoCAD, or at the system level you will need to disable the HD Video default. Check out the extra links in this document as you read through it https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCA...

what specific error are you getting?

Is the rest of your machine up to date (bios, etc.)? Did you tried using some other GPU?

It was different BSOD errors. System was completely up-to-date. It's a laptop so I cant use another GPU. I might have figured it out. The one thing in common with the machines having this issue was that they were updated to the new Windows Feature Update 1903. I've since rolled that back and have not had the same issues anymore. Will be monitoring those machines this week.

Just wanted to update - It turns out it was the new Microsoft 1903 update. removing it fixed the issue.
