AutoCAD Architecture Model/Plan Complex Printing Issues

Hello Everyone!

My name is Allison Walton, and I am an architectural designer currently working on a project, and I am honestly quite stuck and I need some help. I am familiar with AutoCAD as I have used it on multiple projects; however, this one threw me for a loop because it's not a true line drawing but a model! I have never used AutoCAD model space before, and all I am trying to do is modify the space and print off a copy of this floor plan as a PDF, but I am having multiple issues getting this lineweight correct and I cannot understand what I am missing. Because it is a model, the "drawing" that I am trying to print is just the top view of the model space (not a true 2d line drawing), and I think this may be the source of my frustration; but I don't know how to get this to print as a PDF. I have never used the model space before, so I might be missing something obvious, but I have tried various methods to no avail. When I found out this was a model, I tried to convert it into a true linedrawing, by "cutting" the model with the section plane tool, in the hopes that I AutoCAD might draft it like Rhino 6 does with Make2d command. This was not successful, so I tried to leave it as is and print the file using the model as is. The usual CTB file printing methods that I have are not working - the original CTB files are not available, so I modified this CAD drawing to a CTB file that I created (which went well on a couple of other drawings), but no matter what combination of settings I try, the lineweights come out so thick and fat that it's like a sharpie line! If I toggle off the "plot object lineweights" it improves - but then the model lineweight is GREY when it's supposed to be a cut line (thick and black). I can't seem to find a single combination that works and I don't know what to do. Can anyone help me figure out the issues I am having? Any help would be greatly appreciated!  If anyone needs the file I can send it along - I also attached a screenshot of the CTB settings, and a word doc specifying the rest of the lineweights in the CTB (the forum will not let me upload the actual CTB)--- Thank you very much, Allison W.

Hi,

I'm afraid that your problem start from here. For that we need to know that if you're treat with a 3D model or what?

It's a 3d model that I am trying to make into a drawing to print. I am unsure what the best method is to get this drawing. I have tried a few methods, and currently, the "drawing" is really just a view of the model from above. I am finding it very difficult to modify this plan view, specifically when I print to a PDF, because the lineweight is really thick and wonky and I cannot figure out how to get this to print properly.

Thank you. I can't upload the CTB. The AutoCAD forum says that the file isn't an acceptable format. What should I do?

ZIP then post it.

What's the challenge you face with plotting exactly? And which side?

Or are you trying to plot from the layout?
