AutoCAD Architecture - Clear drawing from "objects from newer verison" without newer version?

Is there a way to clear *.dwg drawing from "objects from newer version" without a newer version?

Of course -exporttoautocad works, if you have access to the more recent version of autocad, but can it be done without? (I understand, that Autodesk pressing hard to ensure everybody is "using" the most recent version of Autocad, but still...)

I receive drawing from other professions created in the more recent versions of AutoCAD - even if there are no specific AEC objects in the file, the mere resave in the recent version of Autocad renders the file unusable in older versions because a lot of tools just stops working with our long time favorite "Command not allowed because drawing contains objects from a newer version of this application."  (even "select similar" or so)

Any help is much appreciated.

Only way to do it is the one you've identified. Sorry.

There are two obvious choices:

  1. Upgrade (as you've identified).
  2. Ask your consultants or clients to send drawings or dxfs in a format that your version can read
using -exporttoautocad or some similar command.

I'm not sure about a third option, but, have you downloaded AutoCAD Trueview and tried to save back using that?
