ACA 2018 Dynamic Input Prompt does not refresh from last input

I have a Dynamic Input prompt issue that just started a week ago.  I have noticed that the Dynamic Input box that follows my cursor no longer clears itself of the last data input or last data point. See the attached screen shot.  It does this for all of my drawings except our QNEW drawing template.

My Computer Info:

HP Z420

Intel Xeon CPU E5-1620v2 @ 3.70GHz

GB RAM

NVIDIA Quadro K2000

Windows 7 Pro

Any ideas or suggestions on how to resolve this sudden Dynamic Input prompt quirk would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The cursor location coordinates are turned off and do not display.  The Dynamic Input box retains input from lets sat 5 or 6 commands ago and does not clear itself like it is supposed to.  It just continues to retain old data input and remains visible all of the time.

Search these forums this appears to be a very random problem that no one has an answer to: since most of us here cannot replicate, I guess it is still so.

But since it appears to be office-wide for you based on your statements, can you confirm if you are running any add-ons in ACA2018? If yes, what are they?
Are you logged into Windows with a very limited user account? If yes, does the problem go away if you log in with a local admin account? Your IT may have to help you with that one.

Another random thought: Start GRAPHICSCONFIG command and turn off hardware acceleration: does the issue go away?

I tried all of your ideas and unfortunately none of them worked.  I appreciate the input.  I am a local admin on my computer and I also tried using my IT Admin account (I am also the onsite IT Manager / First Responder) and there was no change in the Dynamic Input box problem.  The only thing that works is unchecking the Enable Pointer Input box under the Dynamic Input settings but that defeats the purposing of Dynamic Input.

I may have to live with this as I am the only one on the design staff that uses Dynamic Input.

Hi @kenn,

Thanks for the Screencast. I tried to replicate this, and I also haven't been able to, even with the additional video of what's happening precisely. It does seem rather odd that it's happening on all machines in your office, and not just one.

  • Is there anything else in common between the machines that you can think of?
  • Particular antivirus or security programs? Registry cleaner?
  • Could it be the pointing device and/or its driver version? Maybe try a different mouse make/model and see if it persists.

I'm sorry it's come down to this - we've certainly exhausted most, if not all, of the troubleshooting options I can think of that might affect this.

Hi @kenn,

Have you had a chance to look into the other questions I posed yesterday? Did they help you narrow down the cause of the issue?

Hi @Victoria.Studley

I tried your suggestions yesterday and tried a different manufacturer of mouse and no change.  Our anti-virus program is Webroot which we have had in place for about 2 years. I do not have any registry cleaners installed.

I did checked my Programs and Features in Control Panel and the only program that was installed about the time when this problem started was Adobe Flash Player 27 ActiveX ver 27.0.0.130

Hi @Victoria.Studley

I just stumbled on to a pattern.  I started a new drawing and my first command _dimlinear (selecting it from the Ribbon) and the Dynamic Input issues started immediately.  I then started another new drawing and drew several lines with no problem.  As soon as I did _dimlinear, the problem started.

Hi @kenn,

Thanks for the update. I have the very same version of Adobe Flash Player 27 ActiveX on both of my machines here, and still can't reproduce the issue. Any Windows Updates around the time the issue started happening?

Another customer is reporting pretty much the same issue over in this thread, so it's not just you who's experiencing this.

Could you create a system information file (NFO) for the affected machine, and either attach it to your reply post or send it to me in a PM?

I'd like to compare your system to a working one to see if I might spot any differences.

Hi @Victoria.Studley

Attached is the system info file.   There were no Windows updates that were installed when the problem started.  The last Windows update was 5/20/17

Hi @kenn,

Thank you for sending that over.

It looks like you don't have the certified driver version installed for AutoCAD 2018 products on Windows 7. Could you please install the certified driver version and let me know if the issue subsides?

Your Card: NVIDIA Quadro K2000

Your current driver version: 9.18.13.3250

Certified driver version: 21.21.13.7586 (download it here)

Hi @Victoria.Studley,

I updated my NVIDIA driver to version 21.21.13.7586 and there was no change.

I also ran the AutoCAD Architecture 2018.0.3 update that came out earlier today and there was no change with update as well.

Hi @kenn,

I'm sorry to hear installing the certified driver version and the new updated for ACA 2018 didn't help.

The only other possible conflict I see is that there are a lot of third-party modeling/rendering applications installed on the machine (Sketchup, V-Ray for Sketchup, Kerkythea, Rhino, , etc.).

Another troubleshooting option here is to try a diagnostic startup to test ACA 2018 in a clean environment to eliminate these other variables. Could you try this and let us know what happens?

Hi @Victoria.Studley

I have been doing a lot of testing today.  I finally received my first computer back from our IT support service as they had to rebuild the computer and re-install the Windows 7 Pro operating system.  I re-installed ACA 2018 through our typical network deployment method.

I launched ACA 2018 without the recent update ACA 2018.1.1 and my Dynamic Input problem was gone.

I then ran the ACA 2018.1.1 update and  launched ACA 2018.  My first command was _dimlinear and my Dynamic Input problem came back.

As a 3rd test, I uninstalled the ACA 2018.1.1 update, restarted my computer and then launched ACA 2018 and Dynamic Input problem was gone.  Hence, the problem must be in the ACA 2018.1.1 update.

I ran (2) System Information reports.  One is pre ACA 2018.1.1 update and the other is post ACA 2018.1.1 update.  Both reports are in the attached zip file.

Hopefully this sheds some light on my Dynamic Input mystery.

Thanks,

Ken

I was having the same dynamic input visibility problem as described by Kenn. I've uninstalled the ACA 2018.1.1 update, and now my input works like a charm (visually just as it did prior to the update). Thanks for all the trouble shooting. Hopefully a fix can be found for the update. Thanks again.

Hi @kenn,

Thank you for the additional updates. Although I still haven't been able to reproduce this here on my system, I've logged the issue with the development team, so that they are aware that there may be an issue with the 2018.1.1 update and dynamic input.

I have the same dynamic input problem.  As long as dynamic is turned on, the display is always showing something from the last command or hovering over objects.  Too annoying to be productive and it showed up an updated to 2018 autocad.
