Works fine with both Vista 32bit and XPsp2, real world, and I don't care for
anything a Dell salesman recommends. My issues with Vista are as a clunky
overly cumbersome OS, not as a base for ACA2008, which seems oblivious to
what it's sitting in... .
I am also not a fan of "making things work", mostly they just don't perform
at a pace that's worth the investment. But others get excited about
squeezing an extra unperceived click out of things, so have at it.
There are other parts of your system that are even more important than RAM
and OS, don't skimp on any of it. I seriously recommend to browse through
the hardware discussion area for tips and ideas, if you post there give an
indication of what kind of rendering you plan on doing.
And, if rendering is a big part of your daily workload, consider actually
having a rendering-only machine separate from your 'regular' PC, I assume
you don't take the day off while you wait for a rendered scene, correct? It
would be a better investment IMHO.
