A dimensioned text (number) can be text masked?

AutoCAD Architecture 2010:  I can use text mask with a text so it could be read when I try the text mask from the Express Tool to erase the background (behind the text), but in a dimension with a line I cannot text mask the background (behind) the number so the dimension number could be read.  (The only way that I know how to do it is to explode the dimension, and then the number can be read but the dimension functionality cannot be used any more).

What is the way to "text mask" the dimension only (and not the dimension line) so the  number could be read?

Thanks in advance.

Avoid ever exploding dimensions.  Select a dimension.  In the properties palette, under the text category, change the fill color.
