Disable saving Toolpaths if material depth is not set

Many times our CNC operators come back to us because we save toolpaths without the material depth being set. For us, this would make the tools go into our tables.

I see no reason why anyone who uses ArtCAM would not have a material depth. I think it would be a great idea to disable the Save Toolpaths screen if the material depth is undefined. This would ensure that every file has a depth and would eliminate depth related errors.

A question for ArtCAM users: Is there ever a situation where you have a tool go past the material depth? Personally, I'd prefer that ArtCAM would give a warning that tool(s) will go past the material depth when calculating the toolpath. Share your experiences/ideas so this issue can be resolved!

Thanks,

Will

if you work from the top of the work piece as apposed to working from the bottom, a zero depth is useful for something like a skim.

warnings about tools exceeding material depth would be nice but you should be able to ignore them. maybe an option in the edit -> options menu

i agree with mmacrch... because we also work from top, and no need to have thickness. We always leave "0", then operator decide what can be the thickness after polishing surface.

Rotational 4th Axis I do not use a material thickness. Regular 3 Axis I use top of material but also set thickness of material. Simple 2D cut out I do not use material thickness but do use material top as zero. I would prefer this not be disabled, a choice to use it or not in the settings is acceptable.
