Arnold GPU Rendering doesn't support AMD Cards?

I just installed the first public beta for Arnold GPU rendering. I have an 8GB AMD Radeon RX580 and as of now, Maya throws an error saying GPU rendering only supports NVIDIA Cuda.

Will Arnold GPU rendering support AMD cards?

Arnold GPU uses Optix from NVIDIA, so you need an NVIDIA card. AMD cards are not supported.

Excluding amd gpu users will eventually force us to look for alternatives, which is a shame as Arnold is a pretty good renderer.

@Juan Manuel Bautista Hoepfner Well there is a good for why arnold gpu is only for nvidia cards. Arnold on the gpu uses optix which is made by nvidia.

currently there few option if you wanna use AMD cards.
indigo renderer, extreme good renderer, but special use case.

vray, the opencl AMD sucks (extreme slow) and lacks features compared to the cuda version, i guess the openCL version will be dropped soon.

prorender, its far far from production ready, its much faster on nvidia cards then on AMD cards (lack of development efforts)

cycles, not bad on AMD but also the nvidia version is faster and more stable.

in distant future. octane and redshift, i guess you need wait another year before you start to test it.

Its not up to AMD technically.

Its up to the devs to support AMD hw... which they decide not to because they are likely getting paid by NV to make use of CUDA instead (even though AMD has more than capable hw, OpenCL is just as good or better than CUDA, doesn't have license fees and works across all hw).

Arnold GPU supports NVidia cards only. AMD cards are not supported.
