Hello,
I'm trying to run maketx to generate .tx files what work both in arnold and renderman. I can see the --prman configuration preset is aimed to do this, however I'm getting errors with this flag.
Error i'm getting:
maketx ERROR: '--prman' compatibility, and '--oiio' optimizations are mutually exclusive. If you'd like both prman and oiio compatibility, you should choose --prman (at the expense of oiio-specific optimizations)
Commandline I'm running:
maketx.exe -v -u --unpremult --prman albedo.1001.exr -o albedo.1001.tx
Can anyone shed any light on what this error means and what I'm doing wrong here?
Thanks,
Klaus

Solved by thiago.ize. Go to Solution.
That's because the arnold supplied maketx has some flags already baked in, like --oiio, so even though you didn't specify --oiio, you're still getting that set.
The --prman flags haven't been looked at since prman 15, so maybe it's no longer needed? I'd give the arnold optimized .tx files a try in prman in case it already works there.
For reference, using the flags you supplied (minus of course the incompatible --prman), the .tx file you generate is a .tiff file which I would hope prman is able to read. Another note, if you want an .exr based .tx file (I see the input was exr), you can get that with --format exr. That could be useful if you want an exr feature like half floats.
Thanks for the help! In the end we ended up using Rendermans "txmake" to make textures that are both Arnold and Renderman compatible, as we could not get it to work with "maketx".
cheers,
Klaus
