Rendering Shadow Pass with a Skydome

Hi all,

I'm try to rendering out my characters shadows cast unto the environment. I want to render them without any self-casting shadows- just their shadows on the pavement. However after following a tutorial on setting render layers to create a shadow pass, the last step where I have to add an absolute overide to the AiShadowMatte material for my light collection does not work. Instead both the characters shadows and self casting shadows are still visible. I only have a Skydome lighting my scene and im trying to overide the cast shadows for the collection that has my lights. Do I have to do something different different using a skydome compared to default lights? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.
