Distance texture map

Hi,

I saw a guy using V-Ray Blend material in a iToo Forest Pack tutorial (below), he used a V-Ray Distance Texture map to set the blend materials' mask for a path on a ground surface.

Is there a way to do this using Arnold?

Thanks

Yes.

Although the workflow is different.

You want to initialize a trace set.
I call mine "test"

Set AO traceset to "test"

Add a trace set closure in front of the material and call it "test"

Add an Arnold properties modifier to the Spline, and call "test" in traceset.

This way the spline is the only thing that picks up the mask, and as you can see the box is automatically excluded.

The just released Arnold 7.2.1 and associated plugins now have a distance shader.
