Isolate object crashes C4D

@peter_horvath

I have a scene where when I've isolated an object in the IPR and then move the viewport C4D instantly crashes. It's only when I move the viewport its seems.

I've tried the object on its own in a new scene and it doesn't crash, so presuming it's scene specific.

Are you able to give me a clue as to what is going on with the attached C4D bug report?

Can not tell much from the bugreport. Any chance you can share the scene with us?

Let me see if I can strip it down to where it crashes.

Ok, here's what's happening.

A material on a totally different object than the one I'm isolating if applied, stops the isolated object from appearing in the IPR (IPR is black). If you then attempt to move the viewport C4D instantly crashes.

If I stop the IPR, remove the material and run the IPR the isolated object appears and all works as it should.

At one point copying just those objects to a new scene provided a re-producible crash, until I disabled and re-enabled the lights. Now I can't get it to crash on a new scene, but the original does.

Do you have somewhere I can send the scene to? It's a commercially paid for scene so I can't upload it here.

Send me an email (peter.horvath(at)autodesk(dot)com) and I'll give you a link to a shared folder where you can upload the scene.

Any updates? You can also send the scene to support(at)arnoldrenderer(dot)com.

Apologies Peter, I gave up honestly. Not helpful I know. Next time.

No worries, I'll see if I can reproduce it somehow in one of our test scenes.
