No map preview and blue tint on specular material preview

Hello, I have a few issues 3Ds Max slate editor.

First I encountered black edges on tiling textures, but then I learned that I should use the Arnold Image Node instead of the good old Bitmap node. Okay problem solved, but now I do not have previews of my maps anymore.

This is especially troubling for specular maps because reflections are also not calculated in the material preview. Instead it shows a blue tint when 'Show background in Preview' is on (which is a crucial function for tweaking reflections).

I found these threads but they are well over a year old so I was wondering about the current status of these broken functions.
