I have some stability issue with MaxtoA.
I have a simple scene with an object and a hdri. I'm working on creating shaders so I have active shade on and keep tweaking the parameters of the shader to get the result I want. But the problem is when I'm doing this stuff my whole 3ds max and windows not responidng until the render is finished and some times 3ds max is not responfing and ecery window that is open keep hiding and reappering in 3ds max again and again until the render finished. This issue is happening most of the time.
I don't have any kind of issue using MtoA.

Is it happening all of the time with a particular scene or with all scenes?

What happens when you use Diagnostics to disable features?

Can you provide a Log file or simple scene?

After trying Diagnostics looks like it's a problem with bump. When it's rendering I can't open render setting or material editor or any window, if that happen the whole system not responding for around a minute or more.

Here is the link to scene file:

Can you go into the Arnold Render Setup > Diagnostics, and in the User Options enter this string?

thread_priority lowest

Example:

Then restart the IPR and test the interactivity.

Another thing to try is to leave some threads free for 3ds Max:

System > Render Settings > Threads
Clear the Autodetect Threads check box

Set Threads to -1

* Put a bigger negative number to leave more threads free. For example, -3 leaves 3 threads free

@SinaMehralinia I have the same problem, did you find a solution?

I have this problem. Max 2019. MaxtoA 2.0.237.

If I try to do anything, even hit cancel while rendering, I get Max windows (render setup, slate etc.) disappearing and popping back into view randomly, a "not responding message" and a long wait before the finished render pops up. I go and make a coffee. I can't have this long term!

I switched off two processors and that made no difference.

Has anybody else got this problem? Anyone found a solution that doesn't means abandoning Arnold?

I had to use 3ds Max for a project. Back then I was using my laptop so it had just a i7 2670 4 cores, but when I got my workstation which has 20 cores everything was fine and I just needed to set threads to -4.
And just a personal opinion, if you can use 3ds Max 2018 with latest SP.
