I tried to apply array modifier to an Arnold procedural without succes. Would it be possible to make it work?
3ds Max's basic Array tool works, so this should too I guess.

Well.. this is technically not possible because Array modifier is mesh/poly modifier. A modifier can only output mesh/poly/spline. To copy/distribute Arnold procedural, it has to be an object level scatter that support render time instancing like pflow. Pflow can do it.
Array tool can do it because it is object level copy.
