Everyone makes typing mistakes, nevertheless the input search string could pick up the desired tool despite (intentional) typos as demonstrated in Blender here. This means, I can find SubD tools when typing "sd", "sudb" or "sbud." It can intentionally be used to find: Transform CV by typing "tcv" or the surface fillet tool with "sfllt".
I propose to also add a checkbox which filters results based on the tool name (including custom tool names in the shelves) or tool path name, (e.g. tool location in the palette/ shelves, such as "Palette>surfaces") because it currently sorts the results alphabetically, which includes the tool path location.
Finally, the results could be filtered based on the first letter per 'word', so for surface fillet, by typing "s f" the results are sorted by the first letter "s", then any tools with a two or more words in the name would show up starting with the "f", if exhausted, the results without the "f" as start in a new word would be given, etc.
The dynamic search updates in 2021.2 to the tool locator are awsome and a great start on improving the functionality!
