Hallo,
I'm not sure if this is one idea or several... it affects many Tools.
My collegues and me noticed, turning on "Bezier surfaces" in different Tools lead to different results.
- Since 2017 the Multi-Surface-Draft-tool has a very complex, yet perfectly customizable way of building the surfaces. providing the best surface-quality of all Bezier-surfacing-methodes. But its neccesary to set all individually for every draft creation.
- Since 2018 the Surface-Fillet-tool has a very simple way also to reduce the surface degree. So it easy to maintain minimum degree while super-fast modelling. But sometimes it uses more patches than logically needed, because it just can create perfectly even cv-distributions, and surface-Splitting. If it could be orientated to input-surfaces like the draft, the result could be better (i.e. on highly curved contoures).
- Other similar Tools like the symmetric-fillet, the freeform- and profile-blend, or the fillet-flanges were not updated with this useful features. still use older Bezier-Surfacing-methodes
- While yet other Tools still just simply give a splitted result of the "Multiple Surface"-Nurbs. That creates many non-optimized patches. So usually have to be rebuilded. Like skin- and profile-tool.
May it be possible to create one general Bezier-Surfacing-methode integrated in all Tools.
We would actually really like a combination of the draft and fillet methodes.
So one can switch between a super-fast automatically optimized version like in the newest surface-fillet, but if neccesary manually set to a perfect quality like the draft-tool.
Kind regards,
David
