FREEFORM CURVE or ALIGNED CURVE

FREEFORM CURVE or ALIGNED CURVE

IDEA: A new curve creation type that combine aspects of a curve tool that automatically has Align tool(curves) and Freeform surface controls.

PROBLEM:  I build Edit point curves and immediately Align them to surface edges and other curves hundreds of times through out a project.   I would like this 2 step process combined into one.

At first I thought a Edit point curve with align features/history would be perfect.   But to keep things simple and consistent, this could be the curve version of the Freeform surface tool.

Once you click on the two end points, the tool would activate and display either the align or freeform features.

In some ways this would be a replacement for the blend tool with a interface that is familiar to all users.

Hi tekbot,

I just read your suggestion about aligned curves and I just wanted to ask whether you already checked the functionality of blend curves in the curves menu? I think they might provide what you ask for. Maybe also this tutorial can help to get in touch with it:

Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

Im definitely familiar with Blend curves and not really a fan for my modeling style. Conceptually, I love them but the unique toolbox, menus, and manipulators IMO limit their usefulness and speed.  Over the years we have seen the core functions adopt the newer workflow, manipulators and menu structure(ie. Skin, Draft, Revolve, etc.)  and I would suggest curve creation with curvature options could be on that list.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.  Glad to see this forum is active.

Alias Rocks!
