What software are you referring to? In Alias there are no levels of smoothing...You see the control cage or the actual limit surfaces...there is no in between smoothing.

Hi Barry. Thank you for your reply and for all your High End class A tutorials.

I am not talking about smoothing, but about to increase the number of subdivisions instead. (in the same way that you can increase the number of cvs on a NURBs). In Alias SubD, you can choose the number of spams when you create a subd plane i.e. but you cannot modify it in this way after the plane have been created. (Of course, you can add edges, but I am asking about a tool where you can increase the general number of spams, later) (something like a "rebuild" option)

Thank you again

Currently there is no tool in Alias to double or triple number of faces in a Subd.

Hi all!

I am wondering if there is a convert tool that can convert a NURBs object or surface to a Subdiv object or surface?

I know that you can convert the other way, from subdiv to mesh or subdiv to Nurb, but I cannot find if this can go the other way around. Thank you!

Hey,

converting a surface model to subdiv is not precise, i.e. it comes along with a quality loss. As I mentioned here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/alias-forum/exporting-subd-with-nurbs/m-p/10204039/highlight/true#M12...
there are automated algorithms out there, that do the work for you, but they often don't fit the expectations of users that expect high quality surface flow. Hence, Alias provides semi-automated tools only, that give you more control over the quality of the result.
