Should small objects be modeled in real world scale? What tolerances to use?

If I'm modeling a small object, like a phone or a computer, should I use real world scale or should I model for example at 1:10 scale? And what construction options should I use?

Right now I'm doing it in real scale (1:1) and using CATIA V5 preset where maximum gap is 0.001 mm. But I'm geting visible gaps when I'm rendering in Keyshot, even using NURBS mode I get visible gap, although barely visible. I guess I could photoshop it out, but that's not very desirable approach, and if I need to do an animation that's just out of the question. And I don't wanna render in NURBS mode just to get acceptable results anyway because it takes too long.

I uploaded a couple of images (part of the render where a gap is visible), one is normal size and another is same image enlarged so you can see it better.

Could you share the file ? And did you check the continuity in between the surfaces ? Since you said that there is a gap there, how do you patch it ?

Turns out there was an actual gap and probably not a tolerance issue. I still have another problem with a model so maybe I will create another post and delete this one.
