Modifying .step file with alias

i ve been trying to modify .step file (from 3d scanner) with alias but apparently it requires few steps to make it happen 

Can anyone tell me how to do so?

Hi,

apparently, there is no way to directly modify a STEP file in Alias. The only way to achieve something close to what you probably want to achieve is as follows:

• Use "File" > "Open" with options (by pushing the caret right to "Open")
• Choose STEP as source format and choose specific options according to your needs and push "Open" button
• Select the source STEP file in the file chooser dialog
  => STEP file will be opened in Alias
• Do your modifications to the data
• Use "File" > "Save As" with options (again push the caret right to "Save As")
• Choose "STEP" as target file format and choose your options
• Name the target file name and push "Save" button
  => Modified STEP file will be written
