Hallo,
We use the geometry-mapping-tool (Surface-Edit>Create Curve-on-Surface>Geometry Mapping) usually for mapping curves of logos or writings.
We know there is also the Conform-Rig, which does more or less the same, but the geometrie-mapping is more accurate, and its easier to place the mapping exacly as we need it on the destination-surface.
We just use the tool a few times a year, but always there are the same questions:
- For the initial selection. If you just start the tool, it isnt possible to select anything. Its always necessary to select a surface first and afterwarts start the tool. Its not a big deal, but it would be more comfortable if its possible to also select a surface after the tool is selected.
- Is it maybe possible to automatically calculate the min/max Values for the mapping, based on the selected curves? At the moment before starting the tool its always necessary to select all the geometry supposed to map, look into the info-window for the bounding-box-measures, note them, start the tool and than type in that values. If the calculation is done automatically after selecting the curves (maybe with a little adjustment-function) it could be more comfortable.
I just noticed there is also an idea adressed to this "Geometry Mapping Map Min/Max U/V Axis On-screen Manipulators" ( dont know how to place a Link here). Bit different than my suggestion but it may also be a good option.
- Also it may be useful to have a UV-flip-functionality at the end of the tool. To quickly reverse the mapping direction for the resulting curves.
kind regards,
David
