I want to bind arrow keys. In the hotkey / menu editor, i can't find the right string to bind arrow keys.

What is the command for arrow keys?

It's not possible. You could use the numpad keys as "arrows" but Alias does not discriminate between the numpad numbers and the regular numbers. I have hotkeys set up for each number, Ctrl + a number, Alt + a number which sort of gives me more options.

It's a shame, in the case of arrow keys I understand, although more customization would be nice. I typically use the arrow keys for Front/back/left/right views, with shift arrow up/down for top and bottom views.

I have bound my numpad keys like you have as well, not a fan of unified numpad and number row keys in the keyconfig, it seems like a missed opportunity for more intricate hotkey layouts. Anyway thanks for your reply

You can hook up each view to a hotkey like you suggested.

Another hidden tip is that when inside the Perspective view, if you go into one of the ortho views with the Viewcube, you can then go into the "neighbouring" ortho views with the Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys (It could be Ctrl + Alt + arrow keys but I'm pretty sure it's Ctrl + Shift + arrow keys).

I could not get the Ctrl + Shift/Alt + Arrow keys to work the way you described,
however I did find a pretty nice section within Hotkeys/Menu Editor... > Special > Viewing. I found these binds work well in conjunction with Hotkeys/Menu Editor... > Palette > View > Toggle Perspective ; they are basically viewcube controls, with the nice transitions when switching between views. (The default keybinds seem to disable the viewcube for that viewport (re-enabled upon returning to perspective view)).

View manipulation functions very much how i wanted it to now.

You can also change transition speed in General Preferences > Viewing tab > View transition time, it's the same setting used to control the view cube transition speed.

Just checked on my Alias and it's Shift + Alt and arrow keys when in an ortho view

It works in perspective view as well.  It simply rotates the view 45 degrees.
