VERTICAL GRIDS

VERTICAL GRIDS

At this moment we can't see vertical grids in model and not in drawing .it makes our modelling work very hard because we can't do any work in elevation .because we don't know from where my slope and and any other things starts in .At the time of drawing we have to put manually grids in drawing from line command it is a heavy task so.

Hallo

Thank you for this great idea. I agree that this will help to build the model faster.

We will take it in consideration for one of our next releases.

best regards

Hi VEERMANI,

many thanks for your feedback here. While there are some workarounds to show vertical grid lines in an elevation drawing, it is a good idea to improve the grid functionality in model. Right now you could use the levels from the project explorer.

Levels in project explorer:

Hello
Level are good if we want to work in plan view in model
But with current version of advance it is very hard to work in elevation view in Because in this condition we really don't know where we are going exactly for work/grid
If u are add this feature in model I believe this become a mildstone step in as history.
One more thing this feature also solved your vertical grid problem in drawing .
So it is my humble request to you please solve this issue as soon as possible.

THANK YOU

Tekla has a much better way to do grid lines. The attached Doc. shows the Grid box that you type in all dimensions and labels for your grid lines and once they are done you hit the create tab and they are drawn in the model. From there you layout the steel.  When you want to modify the grid lines (or add or remove one) you double-click the grid lines in the model and the boxes open up you make the changes and then hit the modify button and it's changed in the model.

grid line macro Alicks ways.png

so the grid macro now has option for 2d and 3d grids , i havent show the z axis page but there be a few 3D option in there  to enabil /disabil 3d  , show vertical line ,may be sum others

the labeling of all axis are done from one macro , (new axis pull down menu ) , so u dont need to close an open new macro to change from x and y labelling options, allso  sins only one macro it can open automatically when u finesh  inserting your grid

u can now change line style

and all so change witch side the labeling is starting at

now the real improvement

u can still control number of spaces the same as be  for , by default the spacing would be even , the label auto filed acording to  first page selections

but as u can imagine uneven spacing is now inputted in seconds

allso label can be changed to what ever u wont

all so table has scroll thing to accommodate unlimited size of grid

i dont know about evry one ells but 90% of the time i use grid macro  10 mins later iv got no wer , i delete grid an make it manually

wot u all think  of my design

thanks

It will useful to have to input a unique grid layout (3d grid) , so the grids information will appear in any view or section of the building, in model and in drawings.

Input a grid layout (3D grid) , so the grids information will appear in any view or section of the building, in model (plan and elevation views) and in drawings. So, we will not have to copy the grids to each floor level like the way that works now.

I just started working with Advance Steel and lack of 3d grid is a big disadvantage. It must be changed...

Totally Agree, coming from Tekla where grids were simple, straight forward and beneficial to both detailing and production of GA's to AS grids is both a big disappointment and a massive disadvantage.

More our customers complain to grid - the have to copy grids on each level and so the grids are multiplied on vertical views.
The request is to see on GA drawings grids, that are out of view depth.
