NC SCRIBING

NC SCRIBING

In regards to CNC... I have two CNC machines; one for tube and pipe, and one for channel and angel. I use the NC scribing settings in Management Tools. It is great that AS will scribe the outside shape of the single part being welded to the main part. However, it would be even GREATER if AS could also show the orientation of the object... such as a clip angle. If AS could scribe another line to show which side the leg of the clip angle goes on, it could eliminate the need for shop drawings, and/or a skilled craftsman to layout stairs per say. You would just need a competent welder.

The scribing is hard to define. Inagine you have a folded angle which has no 90° between the flanges...what should happened then?

Should all attached parts be shown with their contour (imagine polygonal plates)?

To show only the 'attached' area is for my point of view the only thing which is consistent. For all other situation, we have details, pdf and so on. But this is just my 2 cent
