Making 3D PDF export function

Making 3D PDF export function

Hello,

I have a few clients that have a hard time using IFC with tekla bimsight or DWF with Design review. They always ask me if I can provide them a 3D PDF file. I wish we could have that function knowing Tekla and SDS/2 have it. We shouldn't have to use 3rd party apps for doing it.

Hope it's implemented in the future.

Thanks.

Hence the 3rd party apps comment...

If Autodesk want it they will have to pay Graitec for it, if they develop it themselves we will have to call them idea stealers.

Nice one John! Pity you didn't think of it first...

So bad we have to read this, you have lost it completely, didn't you?

Hi,
have you tried "Shared Views"?
It is implemented in AutoCAD / Advance Steel.
You can find this command in the Collaborate ribbon.

It is quite easy to use. Just be aware that you select or un-select the "share object properties" button. It is just a question if you want to publish the model including data or not.
The current view will be published in the cloud, and you can share it with others, including redlining, ...
The Shared View will be online for about 30 days (as far as I know), then it will be delete automatically.

If fabricators want 3D PDF - let's give them what they want.

3D Pdf export should be included in Advance Steel.

A 3D PDF export would might be more AutoCAD core technology.
I will reach out to them and discuss.

Using Shared Views would be a work around in the meantime.

However, it is worth having a look at it, it's a great tool.

I am using the shared views, it is a great tool, quality built overall.

But we have to look from another angle-customers use other detailing companies who export 3D PDF, fabricators are used to it, and they are asking for it.

We have to adjust ourselves to what is on the market, and of course to offer the new tool, hoping at least 50% of the customers will start using it.

I like the Power Pack idea 😉

3D PDF (and other common tools) is a basic standard in every "normal" 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Catia, Pro / E, ...).

Is Advance Steel really a 3D CAD? Or is this a game with additional features?

Powerpack are largely cheap ideas from this forum ... sold expensive

Time and time again I am asked, is it possible to create a 3D Pdf of a model structure while using Advance Steel.

Well the Graitec PowerPack2020 for Advance Steel 3D Pdf Export will allow just that!

The 3D Pdf Export tool is located on the Tools category of the Graitec PowerPack tab.

Also guys, always remember, AS is only $1995 a year (US) .... if you are comparing it to Tekla, SDS/2, Catia, etc ... the price difference is MAJOR. Why not just invest a bit more $2520 a year (US) and get feature you are looking for?

Financially, you are still way under the competition (Tekla, SDS/2 and Catia).

Because I and the rest do not want to feed the leeches.
