handrail post connections

handrail post connections

How about revising the handrail macro to let us pick post by post what type of post base connection to use? I have had several incidents where I was forced to make a design decision regarding handrail because the current macro only lets us use one type of post connection at a time.

For example, on a catwalk landing I have handrail bolted to the top of support beams, but with a 90 degree bend where one post is welded to the back of a channel. I can do this, but only after blowing away handrail intelligence, which I try and avoid if possible.

I agree with this idea it would be nice to choose the post then choose the connection.

There is a workflow you can use to achieve what you want

Model the railings but set the connection to None

In the connection valut > Miscellaneous there are railing connections

You can then apply these (or any other connections) to the railing posts to connect them to the beams

You dont have to delete the railing joint box and if you post centres change the connection will move with it.

I agree as well. Almost 100% of my railings lose their intelligence due to this

Great point, please add this idea to the rest of the requests for the railing macro improvements.

Wholly support and you get my vote, but a tedious work around is to not use the railing macro for the railing post connection and use a seperate "Rail Post Connection" for each post.

100% that post by post connection control within the railing macro would be best.

These railing posts do not work properly. The slot is partially reversed. The role of the foot plates can not be exchanged, as in the original railing connection.
