What I want to accomplish is that for example a beam that is to be galvanized starts with an 800 nunmber and that colled rolled beams start with a 600 number. And beams that are to be powdercoated start with a 700 number. etc.........
This could be accomplished with search queries and then numbering based on the search results. Please see my screencast below as it was easier than typing out the method.
This is indeed a way to sort things in the model. But I would rather see that this goes automatically if or when you change the coating. Because when you have given a beam a coating and later on tyou see you have made a mistake and the beam should have an other coating than the number still is the same and won't change back.
We used to work with Strucad and this was all possible in some way. It is not intelligent enough I think in some ways.
