Do stop default dimensions from appearing during update

Hello,

This was submitted a few times already, it will be submitted every 6 months from now on until this issue is resolved:

Attached example-a large stringer-railing assembly-when detail is updated, even without ANY changes in the model, update was imitated by registering dwg to the model-default drawing style dimensions appear again, messing up rest of the dimensions.

The proposed change in MT in AS2017 version for Manual dimensions not to be updated etc. does dot work well.

IMO Advance cannot be considered anywhere to be a close to be a serious software if dimensions once adjusted get messed up during detail update.

Even if no changes were made to the model.

 Gentlemen, and Ladies, developers-what is the purpose to spend time to screw up a well working detailing dialog when creating  drawings,

and not trying to make Advance look like a 2016 software?

Detail one complex assembly, de-register the dwg, register it again, update it and you will get the picture I am attaching.

If you like it-good for you, because we don't.

All other make-up does not matter when the basics in some places are very, very well messed-up.

i have also submitted this issue as dimension scattering so many times it is huge problem with advance steel they should have to fix this issue. this is a common and very big issue with advance some time dimension moving some time new dimension point added some time default dimension comes again. i am always with you to force developer to get resolve this issue.

I agree... Moving dimensions are big problem... I think advance steel has made big step forward with this isue since Verison 2012.... Other softwares don't have this isue because the don't have "update detail" ... my idea is (if it is possible) to ditch this option ( i have post on this)..

Fully agree.

...and what is even more frustrating is that it used to work fine!

Older users will remember that in versions up to and including AS2010, you could dimension to any node, endpoint or mid point and all would be kept on update (unless the points had moved in the model).

It was extremely reliable.

...then the not so aptly named "smart dimensions" were introduced and I have been complaining about them ever since due to:

• whole dimensions getting deleted
• dimension points getting deleted
• dimension points getting added (that were never manually added nor even in the drawing style config!)
• dimensions getting moved
• the new "preferred for manual dimensions" snap getting turned on/off randomly
• the new "preferred for manual dimensions" snap not being available for valid points
• the new "preferred for manual dimensions" snap snapping to "stupid" points like the edges of root radius etc

Productivity overall was much better in AS2010 and there is something seriously wrong about that!!!

I have listed  a few items in a separate posting last week, 

I think we have to draw their attention because in general they are saying this is not in our plans for the next 2-5 years or so,

They do not use the software as users, they do not have deadlines to make a submittal and they do not know what the pain is when this happens 5 min before submittal.

It is very disappointing.

Otherwise we are asked on October 3rd to renew the maintenance.

Why pay if they mess up even things that were working before.

Why pay if they do not make 3 'improvements' without messing up 2 of them.

Look at the time spent to make crazy intelligent connection that we as every day structural detailers will never use.

And look at the missing major things such as anchor bolts macro, or a good concrete fillet pan stair macro, unstable and constantly updating and messing up dwgs.

They have to hire real users detailing real projects, or at least to make important things that we submit a priority. 

We have the formula in BOM though...a big part in What is new in .... and nothing about how messy and unstable the software can be.
