Using Cameras to cut Round/Cylindrical Shapes Issue

Hi Guys,

I'm having an issue with using cameras to cut round/cylindrical shapes.

whenever I want to cut a view on a round shape. (eg. 3D solids), It's showing additional lines and turns circles into octagons.

Example: 3D solid cylinder with a camera - setup to create an elevation.

Model with Camera & 3D Solid.JPG

Run the camera and it shows additional lines in the 2D view.

(red crosses are showing lines i'd expect not to be there)

View showing extra lines.JPG

I've tried making the 3D Solid a 'Special part' also, same thing happened.

Is there a setting or something I'm missing?

Many Thanks.

this is a known behavior of Advance Steel. If you use Solids or Special parts, the detailling is not really looking good. What you see, is a default: "minimum facets for full circle body approximation", you set this to more edges, to have a better circle shown in the model and detail, but if have a look a front view of a shape, this "edges" will be shown. So if you set this up to 100, you will see 100 "lines" like yours.
In my opinion the specialpart looks a little bit better then solids

Thanks Sebastian,

I figured it was something like that.

I don't understand why it's fine for advance steel objects like CHS or Pipe but not for solids/special parts.

It does the same for Plant 3D piping that we XREF in to our models.

There has to be some hard coding somewhere driving this.

I feel this is a big problem that needs to be fixed.

We would love to do multidisciplinary general arrangement drawings but this is limiting that dream...
