TCB bolts on advance steel

Hi all,

I’m currently working in a project were I will be using TCB bolts, https://www.tcbolts.com/en/products/tcb-standard, in all bolted connections.  Before production, I have to send my client a full 3D model of the structure with the bolts included. I’ve talked with TCB and they provided me STEP files of all the bolts (sample file attached).

Is there any way to create a new bolt category so the model correctly display this kind of bolts?

In short.......not really........no........

I did set up a new bolt type in 2018 when I had a job which required TCB's.......but all I did was copy the XOX bolt type and change the head type to button or cup........and make any adjustments to the grip length.

If someone on here has a better way, then I'm happy to be educated 🙂

Hi,

These are A325TC bolts in US installation, they will show with round cup-like  heads in the model.

Just select A325TC instead of A325.

All joints so far have the option for selecting A325TC except a few, but even they can be manipulated from the bolts properties.

Hi again,

TC bolts will show as cylinders, not as a halve-sphere, I am not sure if this is so critical for your customer, but it is not possible to show the heads exactly as manufactured. If they insist to have a sample of an architecturally exposed connection you can explode the connection and add bolts as special parts, also nuts and washers, but this is time-consuming, and it would be reasonable only for a mock-up connection.

Just a guess.

Otherwise, it would be nice to have the heads shown exactly as manufactured.

the answers of the others are correct in my opinion. I would ask the customer if it's ok not to have "correct looking". Otherwise the only way would be to replace the bolts with specialparts. You could use the step file to import it as 3D solid+purge the blocks and then import it as specialpart in Advance Steel

you can't............other than to a round one.

I have already sent to the client a mock-up connection but they insist in having the full structure with the correct representation of all parts.

So I have no other way than using the special parts.
