Spiral Stair Handrail

Can the handrailing macro be used on the inner stringer of a macro created spiral staircase with no central post?

When i've tried, the handrail macro doesn't recognise the inner stringer as a 'beam' to mount the rail onto.

Only way I know of to make that work would be to create another spiral stair, but use your inside curve dimensions from your first stair as the outside curve dimensions of the second stair.  Delete anything you don't want.  It will unfortunately lose it's intelligent connection status, so be sure you've got it right before deleting anything.

Hi

The stringers in the spiral stair macro are twisted folded plate not beams. Therefore the railing macro cannot use them. If you draw a spiral beam then the railing macro will work on that.

The easiest way to draw a spiral beam is to draw a spline between construction points. then spedit (spline edit) and convert to polylline with a low to medium precision (number of points). Then beam from polyline to get your helical beam.

What is the trick to get the twist into the in the beam it wants to angel out from spiral stair stringer?

Hi,

Double click on the curved beam. On the Positioning page, you will have an option to "Preserve orientation" or "preserve continuity". Try both of them and see which is best. Other than that there is nothing you can do.
