Single part/main part BOM issue

I believe I asked this before but did not get a suitable solution, so let's try again.

I have a structure and have detailed single parts and assemblies. For a given assembly, the main part is detailed on the single part sheets and is given a single part number, say 1000b1. On the assembly, this part has a label that says 1000b1, but in the BOM it says that part is 1B1. There is no correlation between the SP and the MP, nowhere does it actually tell me that 1000b1 is really 1B1. At the moment I am modifying the label by putting a "1B1" in a box above the "1000b1" text.

What I really want is to not touch the label, make it read 1000b1, but have the BOM tell me that part is not 1B1, but 1000b1. There is already a line in the BOM telling me the assembly is 1B1. I need the BOM to tell the fabricator the SP number for the parts required to make the assembly.

How do I accomplish this?

Well, I found the solution myself.

I went into the "Edit Prototypes", opened the Material List, saved it as a unique name, and then simply changed the token for the second line from "Part Number" to "Single Part Number".

Voila! Now my assemblies properly reference the single part that also is the main part of the assembly.

I tried to make the change you placed on here but I am not sure what to do. You said go to edit prototypes and then choose material list, are you talking about in the BOM Templates folder? Please give me a little more information as this is a problem for me as well. Thank you.

Yes you're on the right way.
The "Edit prototypes" command did nothing else, than "open file" but you're automatic in the Advance folder. then change the folder to the BOM template, choose the material.dwg

Hello All,

Can we get an AS2021 update on this post? I try the above steps and it doesn't seem to work anymore.

Thanks for any help!
