Single Part and Assembly marks

Hello,

When I use the numbering function on my modeling, I choose only single parts marks. That is because all beams should be considered as Standalone Parts, and before I change the defaults for Standalone parts drawing I couldn't even make single parts drawings of them. The problem is that when I set labels for part mark for beams, some of them just don't have any part mark assigned to it on the label. Then I opened the beam properties and I found that they have single part marks assigned to them, but the "assebmly" box is checked and not the single part one, even though there are no assembly mark. so I supposed that this is why the labels do not find any marks. How can I change these beam properties in a way that they will all be recognized as single parts and have their part marks assigned and labeled correctly?

You should check the Behavior of the beams.  You'll find that in the advance steel beam dialog.  If you have the Assembly category selected, the program wants to assign them assembly part marks.  Try unchecking the assembly numbering and lists and renumbering.  It should give you just the single part marks after that.

I am already doing it.. When I do the numbering I select only the "single part mark" option and, as you can see in the picture, despite of having no assembly marks the box of "assembly mark" on beam naming is still automaticlly selected.

Is there any way for me to set all beams as Single Parts? I dont want no assemblies on my modeling or drawings, because of the part marks, but I cannot simply uncheck that box.

HI,

 

Try using the Post Number Method set to "SP No. (For main part) = Assembly Number" when numbering. Turn on Process Assemblies again too. You can set th eassembly nunbmers to start and count in the same increments as part numbers if you wish. Then the part number and assembly number will be the same for all the parts that are marked as assemblies as you describe - that is they are main parts of assemblies.

 

OR of course, you can simply edit ht elabel to show the token "Part No - Single" rather than "Part No".

That worked, thank you! I tried to just change the label for Single Part mark but the problem wasn't solved, then I used the Post Number method that you said and it worked almost fine. I've set it to start from 1 with increment 1, but there are some beams with assembly mark -10007, -10004 and part mark 100002 or 1000003, and other values that are totally messed, My model has less than 300 objects and I don't know why is this numbering so confusing. Thanks

For the beams with you odd numbers, open your advance steel beam properties for each beam.  Go to the behavior tab.  If the used for numbering box is unchecked, it will not consider the beam in the sense of the way the numbering normally works.  I believe that is where you are getting the -10004 type numbers.

I model a lot of new steel connected to existing steel.  I use the practice of unchecking the used for numbering and used for lists boxes to that I do not create details of the existing steel or count is in my material lists.  See .jpg
