Setting to get hatch patterns to show up in details

I can't find the setting to have hatch patterns show up in section views.  It works in the International profile, but not in the English profile.

Hi,

for the UK installed default system,  it maybe that this is not set in the drawing style system,  but firstly it does depend upon which drawing style you are using to create the view required.

For example if we take a style  'Section All'  from the User part of the drawing style system,  you need to look for elements within the drawing presentation that a set to 'side and width',  in this case i picked the one noted as 'beams',    in the installed version it will state 'visible hidden', as the presentation,  but if you change it to VisibleHiddenSystemCut,  the hatch will display upon the cut face of the beam element.

if you look at the presentation rule make up you will see this under the rule,

johnjmbennett_3-1586001601001.png

that it is the 'cut face' that has the 'default front', set.

The type of hatch applied pattern etc. is controlled by a database table called 'dethatch' found in the Astoraddin database,  this can be accessed via the Management tools table editor.

so for example if you need other object hatch differently within the drawing view,  those elements can be define via a model object within the DSM and then that object can have its own rule set to define the Cut face and then a specific hatch pattern can be added to the Dethatch table.

for example in the supplied styles for UK, you could add concrete objects to the presentation, create a presentation to reflect concrete with a cut face.

johnjmbennett_1-1586001490737.png

then in the Detail hatch add in a line to define the hatch type used on the concrete face.

johnjmbennett_0-1586001392015.png

the cut area of the object is filled with the cut face hatch pattern set under the Dethatch table.

hope that helps out

Hi guys,

I decide to use this topic to ask about detail hatches. I read John's answer and I think and hope that he will help me.

This is the default hatch of cut views in my drawings.

I want to change it and tried several options. First I changed default settings in databases - Default front and rear hatch patterns - obviously its not working for me.

If you have any idea what I have to change I will be glad to share it here.

Hi,

so will try to explain here what  i think is happening:

  • The system has two parts for the drawing styles,    Advance  and User types.
  • for the Hatching also there are two parts one in the User one in the Advance
    • Using the Table editor and search for Hatch, you will find the DetailHatchSettings, in both AstorDetails ( Advance part) and in AstorCurrentaddin)
    • johnjmbennett_0-1587724111823.png

From the image provided,  , it appears you are in the user branch of the system,  therefore i would suggest that you would need to make your adjustments under the 'AStorcurrentAddin' database in the 'DetailHatchsetting' table.

If you apply a scale change in here it then should come through to the cut views,  that are automatically applied to the Drawing style at drawing creation.  But for good measure you should change it also in the 'Astordetails' also to match both to keep consistency.

in the example i changed the cut view hatch Scale under the user table,  then manually applied a cut view, but making sure that when i selected the cut view style,  i went into settings at the command line and change the style to  be the user part of the system, not the advance part.

johnjmbennett_2-1587724985222.png

browse to user branch and then to the cut view style required.

Section BB has the one at different scale from the AstorCurrentAddin,  A-A is from the Advance ( Astordetails- not change for this test)

hope this help out,  as i was not sure what part you try to change.

Cheers

Thank you for accurate answer !

I need to know that changes in both types of databases are automatically applied to Drawing styles.

The main problem is that I've updated hatch settings in AstorDetails and AstorCurrentAddin (according to your explanations) and still my cut views do not update (after close/open program and system reboot). I've changed these settings before ( in two profiles) with the same result - nothing happens. I am sorry that I cant explain you that early, now I hope you understand my problem.

If you make changes, whilst in advance steel session, you need to use the update defaults button, under project settings on the ribbon.

This should reload the databases for that session(. It can be temperamental thought)

Hi,

so in this case this is for an ,automatic generated cut view',   with the cut view being created by the Drawing style and the drawing process,  this will then use an Management Tool Default,   look under the Drawing  Presentation>Hatches> Scale for Visible Hatches,   in the field dialog change the Scale to match the one you require for example  '5'.

johnjmbennett_0-1587734276490.png

then update defaults into the system and run a new drawing,  Note this only applied to drawings run from the User part of the system, I used a UK A3 drawing process from the user drawing process palette, after making changes in the MT Defaults.

johnjmbennett_1-1587734348660.png

From the advance part od the DSM,  could not see to get it to accept this default,   but i did not dig any deeper into the issue.

hope this helps

Hey Kevin,

Did you ever get your sections looking correct? I'm having the same issue as you, and I can't get the two data base configurations to work. All I get is solid hatching. If yours are working correctly, can you send me some screen captures?
