Revit to Advance Steel SMLX

Probably not be a new idea but it is turning into a big one with BIM.

AD Please sort out the crashing issue when exporting models between Revit and AS with MS access database engine.

Uninstalling and reinstalling all the time is a real pain.😤😤😤

@mick-CNF , have you filed a problem report for this issue? If not I can assist in doing so. I am going to move this post to the Advance Steel forum for support.

Thank you!

Kimberly

If you mean the report when it crashes then yes everytime.

The link below gets sent back everytime.

Revit displays an error when using Revit DB Link / Export ODBC / Advance Steel Extension. | Revit | ...

It is not a new problem but it is getting to be a big problem as our clients are getting more focused on BIM.

I have to uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft Access driver everytime.

This driver seems to get updated automatically.

The link between Revit and AS is quite poor really considering they are both AD products.

Hi Mick. Definitely not a solution,  but I have found for me that if you just do a repair on the MS access database engine, it fixes the issue.  May be a bit faster than uninstall and reinstall.  But would be nice, if it didn't happen in the 1ste place

I think with Windows 11 we lost that ability to uninstall and reinstall. I also recall with the new autodesk 2023 software installer we also lost the repair functionality.

Mine is Windows 11. It is the case for the Autodesk software, but in this case I'm referring to the MS access database engine. This we can still repair. This solves the issue for me. Until I edit the database again, then I might need to do a repair again for some reason.   🙂

Hi @Ignus.E

Thanks for the reply.

This is something I think I had done before and it didn't work so I thought I would try again this morning and it seems to have worked, for now.😁

I will keep tabs on this for the next time it happens.

Maybe it has been fixed for AS2024, if we ever get to see anything about it.🤔😉

I've seen there is a whats new in AutoCAD 2024 thing in April.
