purlin missing dimensions

Hi All,

When I define a purlin it gives me the height of the purlin and its thickness.

this specific purlin is C100x20 , and the width is 40mm, how can I define it as 50mm? 60mm?

and how can I show the all 3 dimensions of it: height, width and thickness.

thank you.

Model it as a user section.  You can call it whatever you want.

The highlighted text is the name that will be called up on the drawings / materials list.

Hi @sdonohoedesign ,

I have tried to create a user section without success, if you have a good video explanation step by step, it will be useful.

I made all the steps but when I tried to generate the section it gave null,

also, I couldn't define the system line in "add coordinate" it gives the UCS in the wrong direction.

thank you

no. please don't create it as UserSection...to much work and not the best way for performance.
Advance Steel performance will slow down, if you have to much UserSections in you model.

And if you create them as UserSection you could not use them easily in structural elements like stairs, railing and so on.
For shapes which are already existing, it much easier to copy an existing profile in the databases.
This is often shown here in the forum, so maybe in the future --> forum search.

Short steps:

  • open the Management Tools and the TableEditor
  • Open all Tables and search for the profil you want, you will find the correct table in the AstorProfiles (example):

  • Select a line, right mouse button "copy"--> go to the last line and use insert
  • change the profile as you need

Sorry be a bit rude, but to create a new thread for a problem which is so often shown here is just blowing up the forum. Maybe the forum search could help.
