Omit weld symbol for standard welds

Hi All,

AS is happy enough to consider a std weld size (example 6) and not show it in the details. I'm just wondering if there are additional settings that remove the whole symbol as well?

Thanks...

Hi,

Advance Steel generally does not draw any weld symbol that matches what is defined as a Standard Weld. Check the defaults "Connecting Elements > Welds > Standard Weld Type (Upper)" and "Standard Weld Type (Lower)".  These correspond to Weld Main and Weld Double in the weld properties box in AS. They were renamed in AS2016 but the defaults were not.

If your weld is a different type but still the standard size then AS draws the symbol but does not write the number on.

If your weld is a different size then AS draws the entire weld symbol.

You can also check the defaults Connecting Elements > Welds > Standard Weld Size = 6 normally, Drawing Labelling > General > Create Weld Symbols for Default Thickness = empty normally, Drawing Presentation > General > Standard Weld Size in Drawings = 6 normally.

The general note on the prototype for the standard weld is not intelligently linked to these settings so if you change them remember to edit the prototypes too.

I hope that helps.

Yes it is possible. when you start some style for drawing you get this dialog window. Just tick to turn weld simbol off. Like on a picture:undefined

Can anyone tell me if the omit weld can be undertaken within Document Manager too?

What steps do you take to get this window?

I can't create a new style I can only copy a style in the drawing style manager.

Is there another way to not show welds on the detail drawing?

Hi,

It looks different these days. After clicking on a drawing style on the Drawing Styles palette click Modify Settings in the small dialog. Then on the New Drawing page of the new dialog you can turn off welds.
