I have a question to how I can change the numbering I am going with. I am going with SP 1000,1001....MP 1000, 123.
On the assemblies sheet I have for instance an assembly of 2 columns welded together with cross members and base plates. The detailed sheets show the assembly of these and has each of the parts with single part numbers except for one of the columns. In the Bill of materials block at top it shows(attached) the assembly number as upper case C3, hen the tubes are marked as upper case C3 same as the assembly number as well instead of their single part number of lower case c2. What I want is the BOM block to say C3 COLUMN, then under that the individual single parts and their single part numbers. That way its not so confusing, because the single part#c2 isnt even shown onthe drawing unless I place it there and sometimes it doesnt come through the material list either. I am attaching this problem in hopes someone can help me. Thank you.
Hi,
I don't think this is a problem with the setting you mention. But try changing your Post Number Method at the top of the numbering dialog to "None" or "SP No. (for Standalone part) = Assembly Number". It looks lie your main part is getting the assembly number and you don't want that so either of those two options will stop that.

Sorry for the late reply but i lost my info. I tried what you said and it still does not show the main parts single part number in the Bill of Material box at the top right. Also the detail drawing of that part does not show the main parts single number either it has the main parts assembly number. What I want is for it to show the Assembly number then the role model name, under all of that the single part numbers for all of the assembly pieces. Im sure it can be done just not sure that it is in the numbering or is it in the B.O.M. Is there a way to change that BOM so it shows me this and the same with the material list summary and all of the other lists. Its confusing to the fabricator to not have it this way.
Hi,
Advance Steel is not really set up to show individual part details on assembly drawings. Though it is possible it is not nice. AS works much better if you do separate part drawings nad assembly drawings.
To do what it sounds leek you want is quite involved. there are numbering settings controlling whether the main part in the assembly gets the assembly number or a single part number. Then there are drawing settings as to whether the main part is drawn as a single part on the combined sheets or not. The BOM template will also likely need adjusting to show what you want. Getting all these things working together to give the desired result would be best done with some iterative trial and error in the setup on your PC. In my opinion, it is too involved and complex to answer in the forum.
