Notch-Coping

What is the easiest way to do the coping of the bottom flange only of the beam and one side only.

I tried the options of the advance steel tool palette and it didnt work it end it up notching top and bottom flange Untitled4.png

Hi @cristianUL24T

You want to use rhe features tab to place a rectangular contour

Then in the contour dialogue box go to the contour tab, there is a boundary side 1 and side 2 option.

Whereever the system line of the beam is placed side 1 is above the system line, side 2 is below.

So if your system line is in the middle of rhe beam you need to tick rhe box for side 2, this will limit the depth of the cut

Interesting find for me using the cope tool in advance steel. As stated with previous user, use the features tab, centre grouping of coping icons, from top to bottom, they are green, grey and orange respectively. With a typical beam to beam coping scenario, select the upper left tool (cope) in the middle group, grey.

You will then be prompted to select the beam to be modified at reference end. 1. Select the beam you want to cope -keeping in mind where you place your cursor will determine flange to be coped (selecting top flange copes top flange and vice versa)
