Missing holes and contour cuts when AS model sync'ed back to Revit model

I have an AS model with some standard UB's which I drew in Revit, Exported to AS, added some connections, holes and some contour cuts in AS, Exported from AS to a new file and then Synchronised from that file in Revit.

The connections (and their holes) show fine in the Revit model after sync but the holes and contour cuts I created don't get created in Revit from syncing.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I found this article on AS support which seems to suggest this is a known limitation and doesn't seem to suggest that there is any intention of fixing or workaround? https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Beam-c...

I found a workaround:

  1. Export to smlx file from AS once holes etc added.
  2. Delete the steels with added holes etc in the Revit model.
  3. Re-sync in Revit from the smlx file exported from AS, the beams are re-created in Revit and in the process this seems to force it to acknowledge the new holes etc in the beam.
